THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL
REGULATIONS OF THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL
Federal State Institution of Culture “The Museum of the World Ocean”
1. General Provisions
1.2. The Academic Council is a collective scientific-consulting body under the director of the museum.
1.3. The Academic Council is to facilitate research activity of the museum, consolidate and extend its links with scientific, creative and pedagogical society both in Russia and abroad.
1.4. Chairperson of the Academic Council is the director of the museum, Deputy Chairperson – the deputy director on scientific work. Secretary is appointed by Chairperson of the Academic Council.
2. Goals and Objectives of the Academic Council
2.1. The Academic Council:
- examines project plans of annual and perspective scientific-research work;
- examines reports on research activity, results of the most important scientific works of the museum;
- examines concept projects, structure and subjects of expositional and exhibition solutions and design;
- examines ready-for-publication scientific (collected papers, conference documents, monographs and articles), scientific-reference and popular science (catalogues, guide-books, brochures, etc.) works and concludes whether works should be published;
- consults museum staff on scientific matters;
- contributes to co-operation between the museum and research, educational and cultural institutions.
3. Work of the Academic Council
3.1. Sessions are held if necessary, but no less than twice a year. Sessions are carried out by Chairperson of the Academic Council, failing - Deputy Chairperson.
3.2. Sessions of the Academic Council are competent if no less that a half of Members is present. Decisions of the Academic Council are made by the majority of Members. Members can their opinion in a written form if they are absent, but it will not be taken into account during voting.
3.3. Specialists and experts can be invited to sessions; they can participate in discussions and have a right of advisory vote. But they do not participate in voting.
3.4. Secretary of the Academic Council invites Members of the Academic Council to regular session no less that a week before holding and controls timely preparation of reports and decision project. Secretary of the Academic Council acknowledges Members of the Academic Council with the above-listed matters in advance, minutes of the sessions, informs executors about decisions of the Academic Council and museum staff about work of the Academic Council.
3.5. Decisions are made on each agenda separately. Decision project is prepared and given for examination to the Academic Council by reporter.
3.6. Minutes of the sessions, copies of decisions of the Academic Council and abstracts are made and signed by Secretary of the Academic Council.
3.7. Prior examination of submitted issues can be made by the Methodological Council of the Museum.
3.8. The Methodological Council functions in compliance with its Regulations. It is body of the Academic Council and permanently working scientific seminar of the Museum on scientific museology matters in the field of history of equipment and scientific-technical knowledge.
3.9. Plan and report of work of the Academic Council are part of plan and report of work of the Museum.
3.10. Documentation of the Academic Council is kept at the Secretary of the Academic Council and passed to Archives under direction of Chairperson.
