  Excursion along the shore. 2007

The School of a Young Naturalist has been working since 2004. The authors of the project are: Tatiana Molokanova, head of department on work with visitors, and Ludmila Gimbitskaya, head of natural and mathematical education department of Kaliningrad Regional Institute of Education Development. The School of a Young Naturalist is a result of cooperation between the museum and Kaliningrad lyceum ¹ 49. Lessons are given for secondary pupils in a framework of school classes on natural science and geography. A group consists of 25 people. At the present time two groups attend the School of a Young Naturalist.
Lessons follow practical approach which gives basic natural-science skills. Children learn how to carry out observations, measurements, tests and make analysis and resume. This education acknowledges with natural-science museum expositions, teaches how to carry out observations and process natural-science data.
The main aim of the teachers is to apply knowledge in practice: identify studied objects and processes in the environment. The most important is to form awareness about influence of anthropogenic activity on environment. The School of a Young Naturalist experience was presented to teachers from the city and region at seminars, opened lessons and workshops.

Water is of many faces, it is presented in all the Earth’s shells, it is a part of natural processes and hydrologic cycle, frequently used by humankind and available for study. Through multisided water world children identify themselves as a part of nature, learn how to care about it and acquire appropriate behavioral skills.

The Planet Earth (Course)

Basics of geography are taught within state educational standard. Pupils study the history of the planet’s formation, its place in the Solar System, Earth’s shells, links between them and consequences of anthropogenic activity.

Lessons on course themes are held by prior application.
