Elena Kropinova, 

Elena Kropinova is Deputy Director for Science Education and International Affairs of the Museum of the World Ocean. Dr. Kropinova is a full member of the Russian Geographical Society. In 1993, she graduated from the Kaliningrad State University (KSU) of the RF in Geography (excellent) and English Philology. Kropinova is D.Sc. in Geography (2017, Russia) and D.Sc. in Economics (2003, France). She completed short-term study-courses: “European projects consultant” (Finland, 1999) and intensive course of Microeconomics (The London School of Economics and Political Science. London, UK, 2013).

In, 1993 - 2010 and 2012-2015, Elena Kropinova worked at I.Kant BFU; in 2010 – 2012, she was Head of the Agency for Tourism of Kaliningrad Oblast. From 1995, she was Head of The Baltic University International Programme Branch (involving almost 100 universities in the Baltic region). Kropinova was a director of the international projects Crossroads and Crossroads 2.0 (2009-2015) which resulted in construction of outdoor Old Sambia Museum on the Curonian Spit; publication of popular science books, a text book for tour guides and a catalogue featuring historical and cultural heritage objects of Southeast Baltic region. She published over 100 academic papers including 15 abroad. Kropinova speaks fluent English and German. She was awarded “Honoured Person of Higher Professional Education” branch-wise prize by the Ministry of Education of the RF on October 17, 2007.

Elena Kropinova has worked at the museum since January, 2016; she got her job on the basis of competitive entry. In 2016-2017, she was promoted Deputy Director General for Science (she was in charge of research and grant activity of the museum as well as of exhibition and exposition projects).
