In the first place, the Koenig Gates are a museum with a permanent exposition and mobile exhibitions about initiation and development of the fortress-town, visits of outstanding people and the Grand Embassy of Peter I; initiation of Russian diplomacy, embassies and consulates and old links between Russia and this land. The old town spreads in front of you, the history of its foundation, fortifications in general and the gates in particular, crown-bearing historical persons – the so called fathers of Koenigsberg. The other part of the exposition narrates on historical links between this territory and western and eastern countries, visits of outstanding people, the history the Grand Embassy of Peter I, partner cities of Kaliningrad, embassies and consulates of Koenigsberg-Kaliningrad. It is a zone of links and partnership that is why the hall is used as a representative one: international meetings, concerts of wind music and signing of documents are held here. There is antique furniture, E. Bogdanov’s picture “Visit of Peter I in Koenigsberg on May 7, 1697”, boat models of a galleon St. George and a yacht ROYAL TRANSPORT, a copy of a XYII-century cut ruby, so called royal amber, ship canon the “Shuvalov’s Unicorn”, a copy of Katherine’s II sculpture (F. Shubina, XYIII, Russia), a copy of Peter’s I sculpture (E. Zocchi, XIX, Florence) and a scroll with family names of people who visited Koenigsberg in different periods. A show-case with the book “The City of My Dream” sealed up for 25 years with wishes to the city and next generation is located in this hall, too.
