THE POLAR EXPLORERS’ CLUB

   The polar explorers’ club. 2006

The polar explorers’ club has worked in the Museum of the World ocean since 1994. People who created the history of the North gather together in this club. The aim of the club is to leave not only lifeless bookish recalls about heroic deeds of people - famous scientists, pilots and submariners who conquered the Arctic – but also accumulate heart warmth and strong feeling that their life given to the Motherland has not been not spent in vain. These elderly people recall the North with the help of jolly and friendly meetings of old friends, vivid and emotional stories, photographs and private things which keep the history of the white Arctic exploration.

The Museum of the World ocean is proud, remembers and loves each club member as life of them has become a legend. We will always remember D. Berenbeim, the first president of the club who was awarded with Fedor Litke golden medal; V. Litvin, Hero of Socialistic Labour, I. Alekseev, captain, and many others. And today our club welcomed arkhangelskers citizens who fearlessly defended the northern boundaries of the Motherland in the days of the Great Patriotic War.

Meetings are held one time per month.

Chairperson: Vladimir Sukhoruk, associate professor of physiography of I. Kant RSU, Candidate of Geography
