The club unites participants of the SRV Akademik Kurchatov expedition and other participants of RAS. It has existed since 1997. The members gather annually on February 16, the day of memory of E. Rebains, captain of the Akademik Kurchatov. During the meetings club members bring various materials connected with the history of academic scientific fleet. Approximately 80 people gather together at club meetings. A. Brizgalov (a veteran of academic fleet) used to be a permanent President of the club. Nowadays V. Strjuk, an oceanologist and Candidate of Geography, is President of the club.

Meeting takes place annually.
