The Museum of the World ocean cooperates with Administrative Department on youth (Mayor’s Office of Kaliningrad) and supports development of Kaliningrad intellectual movement. Since 2004 “What? Where? When?” and “Brain-Ring” tournaments have been held on the basis of the museum. Kaliningrad crews of experts (pupils, students and working youth) monthly take part in the All-Russian synchronic championships and Youth World Cup in a framework of the International Club Association on “What? Where? When?”. More than twenty teams gather simultaneously!
The “Amber Brain” Kaliningrad festival of intellectual games became a symbolic event in August, 2004, when 14 Kaliningrad and 2 Saint-Petersburg teams competed. The festival was prepared and held with the help of such experts of the elite TV-club “What? Where? When?” as Alexander Druz, head of jury of appeal; Sergei Vivatenko, host and question set author; Elena Kislenkova, jury chief and Michael Skipski, who worked at erudite person’s lotto and computer support. Besides prizes from organizers and sponsors there was also a prize from the museum. The team which gave a correct answer on maritime quiz won this prize.
Years have passed and many events took place which raised the museum image as one of the best places for intellectual competitions. The “Amber Owl” festival has acquired an international status and is held annually. Teams from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Byelorussia, Saint-Petersburg and Moscow take part in this festival with pleasure.
Club meetings are held once a month.
